Series 2 of record group 75-60 consists of the proceedings of the Michigan Conservation Commission for the years 1964-69. Includes agenda, memoranda to the director from the staff, corrected drafts, proposals and final text of proceedings of Commission meetings. Records relate to major business of the Commission, i.e. wildlife management, parks management, land purchases and sales, authorization for leases to mineral and forest resources, and problems dealing with conveyances of bottom lands.

The 1925 Clark-McNary Act expanded the provisions of 1911 Federal legislation creating the National Forest System (Weeks Law). It made it easier for the United States Department of Agriculture to buy land from those sellers whose property was located within the National Forest System. The act also enabled the National Forest Service to work with state officials in forest protection and reforestation efforts.
